Move On, You Lazy Cattle
Bob Nolan
Original copyright: March 30, 1940
We’ve a long way to go, tell me why are you so slow.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
And you’re not comin’ back. It’s a shame, but it’s a fact.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
Refrain:
This is the last trail you’ll travel over,
Fill up on sage and clover,
Move on, you prairie rover, move on.
And when you’re all steak and stew together,
I’ll still be poundin’ leather.
Move on, you cattle, move along.
‘Twas a year ago today that I branded you this way,
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
And you’re big and fat and round, you’ll bring ten cents a pound.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
There’s a range far away where we’ll all meet some sweet day.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
For we’re bound to meet again so good-bye until then.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
There’s a ranch up in the sky and I’ll see you by and by.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
For we’re bound to meet again so good-bye until then.
Move along, lazy cattle, move along.
